Gianluca Misuraca Senior Scientist, European Commission's Joint Research Centre
Gianluca Misuraca is Senior Scientist at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, Directorate Growth and Innovation, where he has been since 2009 conducting research in the area of ICT for governance and social inclusion. Currently he is leading the research area on Welfare Systems & Social Change, including the multi-year research project IESI – ICT-enabled Social Innovation in support of the Social Investment Package carried out in collaboration with DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. Before joining the European Commission Gianluca was a Research Associate at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) where between 2005 and 2008 he was the Managing Director of the Executive Master in eGovernance conducted by EPFL in collaboration with prestigious institutions worldwide. Previously, during his career he held several positions as policy advisor for different International Organisations and bilateral cooperation agencies as well as working with various consulting and industrial businesses in the area of eGovernment, regional development, research and innovation in many countries around the world.
